Decreasing the energy demand of buildings by applying cost-intensive measures (such as the addition of insulation material, energy-efficient heating, and cooling systems, renewable energy systems, etc.) leads to an increase of building investment costs.
The application of the findings to provide energy-saving measures in the architectural design will minimize the ecological or economic burden. As the orientation and shape of the building are one of the most important factors affecting the energy demand of buildings, these two factors are studied in the following.
